18 декабря 2015 года на большом отчетно-выборном Круге атаман Донского городского казачьего общества войсковой старшина Иван Иванович Жечков обратился к участникам Круга с инициативой.
Им было предложено рассмотреть вопрос о наставничестве над детьми — воспитанниками ГУ ТО «Социально-реабилитационный центр для несовершеннолетних №3» города Донской. Атаман представил проект плана работы с этой организацией, и данное предложение было единогласно принято на Круге.
Руководитель ГУ ТО «Социально-реабилитационный центр для несовершеннолетних №3» Наталья Александровна Шестова при встрече с правлением Донского ГКО и представителями администрации города Донского дала согласие на приобщение воспитанников центра к традициям православия посредством организации и проведения мероприятий духовно-нравственной и военно-патриотической направленности.
Начиная с декабря 2015 года члены правления, казаки и атаман Донского ГКО проводят с ребятами Центра различные мероприятия.
28 февраля 2016 года казаки во главе с атаманом Иваном Жечковым вновь были в гостях у ребят центра. На этот раз они рассказали ребятам о современном стрелковом оружии, которое состоит на вооружении в Российской армии, а именно — об автомате Калашникова.
Атаман на учебном макете показал устройство автомата, его характеристики, а затем казаки показали, как правильно разбирать и собирать данный образец оружия. Это вызвало большой интерес у мальчишек и девчонок, которые, конечно, не держали автомат в своих руках.
Без устали малыши разбирали и собирали автомат. Также ребятам показали, как правильно заряжать и вести стрельбу из пневматической винтовки, подготовить к стрельбе в тире.
В конце мероприятия ребята поблагодарили казаков за интересные занятия, попросили сфотографироваться и выразили надежду, что такие встречи продолжатся.
